Octavo. 10 algae paper sheets extend beyond the edges of boards. Villaret's conveyance of an uncommon organic material into a functional substrate for books can be seen as a recuperation of the publishing industry's often-ignored reliance on the environment. Each copy in the edition is unique, using different species of seaweed of various colors; the present copy's green papers are made from Ulva Armoricana and cellulose, gathered from the coast of Brittany. The book requires care - the papers are sensitive to light and humidity - creating in microcosm a situation where the reader must engage in ecological awareness and stewardship. Bound in black cloth over boards. Fine. Housed in box.
