Single sheet, with print of mother and child mounted. Beneath the image Kent has marked the date of his daughter Hildegarde's birth: "June VII, MCMXV." At the margins he has written that the baby was ten pounds at birth, and then immediately proceeds to inquire about three works apparently sent to Geckler, wondering if they have merely gone astray, or if they have been confiscated by police who are concerned about possible espionage. It certainly would not have helped Kent's case that he is here writing in German to the German-born Geckler. From Geckler's collection. Modest, marginal soiling, mote of foxing to verso, else a near fine, early example of Kent's entanglements with the American government, and of his lettering art.
