Circular folio, 18 inches in diameter. (40)ff. One of 150 copies signed by the poet, John Ashbery, and the printer, Andrew Hoyem. This is the thirteenth book of the Arion Press. The Parmigianino painting which inspired Ashbery's poem is reproduced on the title page. The text is printed in lines which radiate out from the center of the pages in a centrifugal force of typography. The frontispiece is a signed photograph of the artist by Richard Avedon. The lithographs by Alex Katz, Elaine and Willem de Kooning, and Jane Freilicher, the etchings by Kitaj and Rivers, and Jim Dine's woodcut, all in circular format, are signed and numbered by the artists. Sheets all fine, loose, as issued, housed together with the phonograph record in a stainless steel container resembling a moving-picture film canister, with a convex mirror set into the lid. Quite clean and untarnished, save occasional scratches and shallow dent to side of lid. Near fine.
