Octavo. 35, (9)pp. Portillo de la Luz was a Cuban musician and composer, acknowledged as the founder of Cuban filin, a genre blending jazz, bolero, and the style of crooning popular in post-WWII America. Here his music and lyrics are enshrined by one of Cuba's mainstays of artist's book publishing, with illustrations printed and collaged by Rolando Estévez. Bound in heavy-stock brown paper wrappers with ornamental orange, olive, and black yarns along spine, and with publisher's specially editioned bookmark honoring Portillo's 80th birthday. near fine, in original publisher's envelope.
