Matted sheet showing three iterations of Hammer's initial "G," one in sepia, one in black, and one in blue and sepia. A typed note identifies Hammer's process, denoting the proofs as numbers 6, 36, and final state, which would feature in his Dialogue on the Uncial, which he printed while at Wells College. Included, too, is Hammer's prospectus for his Uncial type, titled American Uncial, a scarce bit of ephemera. All materials held in paper folio. Light toning, else a fine sampling, with mailing envelope.
