12mo. engraved frontispiece portrait and title page; six hand-colored engraved plates; 12ff of calendar pages printed in two colors interleaved with six guarded engraved plates; (132)pp. This more deluxe version of a ladies' pocket calendar contains an engraved portrait of Elizabeth Christine, wife of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles VI, as well as six colored plates illustrating the fashions of the day. The plates appearing within the calendar section correspond to the literature that comprises the bulk of this work, illustrating, for instance, a scene from the six-act play, Das Bild, by Johann Gabriel Seidl - author of the lyrics to the Austrian Imperial anthem. Another feature setting this edition apart from other, similar almanacs appearing under a similar title from this publisher is the mirror mounted to the front pastedown, which remains intact and clear in this example. In the publisher's binding of brown paper over boards with elaborate decorations in blind and gilt. A.e.g. Housed in the original red paper covered slipcase, the decorations of which mirror that of the binding.
