Oblong 16mo. Over 70 pages of inscriptions and signatures, beginning with Longfellow's poetic gift inscription to his niece, Marian Longfellow O'Donoghue. Longfellow's lines derive sample a quatrain from his 1863 poem, "Christmas Bells." O'Donoghue, would would have been sixteen years old at the time, would go on to found the National League of American Pen Women. Other signatures in the album include historian David Pulsifer and Admiral George Dewey. Bound in embossed brown leather. Mild edge rubs, more to slightly tender joints, else near fine. Quite an association piece and a window in the social circles of the Boston-area literati at the end of the 19th century.
