Octavo. 49pp. The first book of the press. Four of Ward's wood engravings, printed in blue, place the poetic alongside the physical, posing a man among scenes of clear psychological and cosmic overture: a cemetery, a heap of rubble, a lush fields, and among stars. Powys' essay takes aim at similarly lofty epistemology, musing as it does on the nature of mortality and how to cope with the knowledge of it. Bound in striped blue cloth with title in gilt to spine. Some spine toning, adhesive residue to both front and rear endpapers, else very good.
