Sixteen postcards, each one with an illustration by Preissig showing Czech soldiers performing battlefield heroics. Around each image in a typeface designed by Preissig is a call to action in the Czech language, and underneath the admonition is translated into English and printed in red. Two of the postcards (#9 and #10) share a similar design, each one with a Manifest [Proclamation] to Czechoslovak's in America. An apparently complete set, numbered 1-16. Printed at the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, where Preissig completed numerous posters and other enthusiastically illustrative materials throughout the Great War. During WWII, Preissig was involved in the Czech resistance and was killed at Dachau in 1944. Light soiling to some cards, else a near fine set. (Each card measures 5 1/2 by 3 1/2 in.)
