Four-color poster. Two copies, one in English and the other in Spanish, identically designed with a procession of prisoners, led by the San Quentin Six, marching through a broken wall. In August 1971, he Six - Johnny Larry Spain, Willie Tate, Hugo Pinell, David Johnson, Fleeta Drumgo, and Luis Talamantes - were accused of killing three guards and two prisoners. Protestors declared that the accusation was a cover-up for the murder of fellow inmate George Jackson at the hands of the guards. The ensuing trial lasted sixteen months, and Spain was convicted of murder, and Johnson and Pinell on other charges. Spain's conviction was reversed on appeal in 1989. Pinholes to corners of English-language poster, else both similarly rubbed along margins and near fine. (18 1/2 by 12 5/8 in.)
