Square quarto. (114), (10)pp. A fine reissuance of Hulme's poetry, many of which feature Maori vocabulary and Kiwi idioms. To these Van Vliet has added original grayscale digital prints, rendered with a grain similar to photogravure and certainly evocative of the natural landscapes peculiar to Aotearoa. The frontispiece is a vitreograph - a technique which opts for a float glass matrix instead of more common metal or wood - of a Moeraki Boulder. A fitting collaboration between two artists, both concerned with the mutual relationships between a culture and its landscape, and with the imperative to preserve both. Bound in stiff wrappers, pulp painted. Housed in dropback box with map of Kiwa's sea at underside of lid, with blue watery cover approach painted sandy beach at margin and with inlaid moon at spine. Booklet with Maori glossary and colophon laid in, this with rear fold-out photograph of Hulm and Beth Serjeant exploring the black beach at the Kiwa's seaside, which has now vanished under the encroaching water. Fine. Housed in slipcase.
