Two 16mo vols. (13)ff each. Each volume features ten haikus and ten accompanying illustrations rendered via reduction linocuts with pochoir and hand-alteration, interweaving and elevating the imagistic quality and measured cadence of verse to mirror the interpenetration of the transcendent spirit and the immanent earth. A deceptively simple but in fact monumental undertaking in making books by hand, here recalling the Japanese traditions of poetry, illustration, papermaking, and binding. Both books stab-bound with white thread. Spirit is in orange wrappers, while Earth is in blue, and both with glittering mica-printed design to front cover and linocut endpapers. Very fine. This one of seven sets housed in case covered in book cloth with pochoir design.
