Three editions, together a fine representation of the Press's investments in the history of typography and its aesthetic and technical contributions thereto. Specimens of Metal Type (2000): Octavo. 43, (4)pp. One of 120 copies. Examples throughout in a wide range of colors include Garamond, Playbill, Gill Sans, and Granby Shadow, applied to quotations both philosophical and playful from the likes of Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, and the mind of the designer. Five extra prints laid in, along with a print of the Press's device in green and another booklet of "recent additions." Bound in buckram over boards. Fine. Specimens of Wood Type (2001). Quarto. (14)ff, two of which are fold-outs. One of 60 copies. A bold array of typefaces in an equally bold array of colors, with candid quotes and historical blurbs throughout. Bound in olive wrappers printed in two colors. Some shelf-toning, else near fine. San Serif: Typefaces from the Pear Tree Press (2008). Small quarto. (22)ff. One of forty copies. A punchy sampler, and something of a typographic collage. Bound in quarter red cloth with gray boards stamped in black. Some rubbing to the red cloth, singular stain to rear board, else vg+.
