Octavo. (35)pp. The Cleveland proofs of Twain's text of 1880 are unobtainable, and the West Point first edition of 1882 is extremely rare. The colophon states "this edition follows the original word for word and adheres strictly to its orthography and punctuation." Spine and extremities rubbed, additional staining along spine though this inconsequential to pages which remain quite clean and bright, else very good in brown paper over boards backed in vellum. James Ransohoff's copy, with his signature to front flyleaf. Ransohoff ran a womenswear store in San Francisco and was a director of the San Francisco Better Business Bureau.
