Octavo. (iii), 15pp. With three full-page and two tailpieces in full color by Ely, who lucidly emphasizes the psychedelic and geometric motifs of Berrigan's short story. Designed and printed by Caliban proprietor Mark McMurray. Bound by Ely in full black morocco over boards with rules in gilt and red and additional tooling in gilt, red, orange, purple, and blind replicating the esoteric symbology Ely incorporates into his interior illustrations. A complete reproduction of one of these images (at leaf 7v) appears at the central motif of embossed and dyed leather, which appears above a sparkling inlay. An onlay of textured orange leather, artfully wrinkled into three dimensions, frames the whole. Design repeated at lower board, this adapting a different illustration (at leaf 3r). Pastedowns thickly painted in blue-black acrylic. A fine example of Ely's work as both illustrator and binder. Housed in solander box.
