Oblong octavo. 77pp., + (25)ff. The first third of this handsome book consists of correspondence between Hans Schmoller and Morris dealing with the problems of the book itself. The second part by Tanya Schmoller is text about the Chinese tea chest papers, and the last section includes 24 samples of the papers themselves. Quarter morocco with leather spine label and gilt-stamped paper over boards. This copy unnumbered and marked as "Bindery Sample 4/87" on the colophon page, with a penciled note in a different hand stating that it is "not quite right"—the only differences from the finished binding seem to be in the grain of the leather on the spine and label. Fine in a Mylar dust jacket. Bookplate to front pastedown.
