A rare proof copy of Heaney's third poetry collection, in which the eventual Nobel Laureate ventures, subtly, into a political mode, addressing lyrically the tense state of Northern Ireland. Brandes & Durkan note that Faber printed 2500 copies of the first edition, only issued in wrappers, but make no mention of a proof. Bound in orange wrappers, mildly rubbed and with spine creased. Near fine.
