Octavo. x, 237pp. Stevenson's first book debuted with only 750 copies, but a frontispiece by Walter Crane signals early confidence in his literary success. This was, perhaps, too anticipatory; the book did not sell well. Bound in light blue cloth over boards decorated in black and gilt. Spine sunned, general rubs to extremities, crack along front hinge, else a very good copy with cream endpapers. Housed in chemise and slipcase. (Beinecke 12)
