Two oblong quarto portfolio volumes. (18);(18)ff. Out of an edition of 150, 50 copies of each etching were signed by the artist and laid loose into deluxe portfolios, with a title and a signed colophon, each with a hand-colored wood engraving. The etchings comprise accurate and lovely portraits of the male and female of thirty different species. The two natural linen tray cases are backed in black morocco, with onlaid labels in celadon morocco with gilt fillets and titling. A handsome set in fine condition.
