16mo. (38)pp. A charming tribute to the birds of a feather which flock to the Newfoundland coast. As Montevecchi points out in his essay, Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve is the southernmost colony of Northern Gannet's and is thus particularly vulnerable to climate change. The birds have been recently wont to flee prematurely because a hotter ocean has caused fish to swim deeper and out of reach. The result has been a stagnant, if not declining, breeding cycle, and chicks occasionally are left to go it alone. A collaboration between afficionados and activists, both playful and urgent. Book bound in quarter white leather with pale blue paper over boards, with paper inlay bearing an illustration of a diving Gannet. Extra materials housed in cloth chemises. All fine and held in dropback box. Two copies of the prospectus laid in.
