The novel served as the basis for the 1958 film, The Long Hot Summer with Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, and Orson Welles. Pictorial title page tipped-in facing p. (iv). Publisher's black cloth shows mild shelfwear, a trace of faint dampstaining to lower margin of several interior pages. Overall very good in very good first issue dust wrapper that shows some color restoration to extremities. Bookplate.
