Quarto. (xii)162pp. The text, translated by Caxton from the Dutch, was described by William Morris as "a thoroughly good representative of the Beast epic, in its rude joviality and direct delineation of character." With chapter summaries printed in red, six-line and eight-line foliate initials, and marginal decorations of great beauty. The title-page and first text page are presented together as a two-page spread with wide white-vine borders, and the title in large against a flowered field. Several leaves toward the center show some even toning, likely from a paper flaw, else a fine, bright and unopened copy of a beautiful book, in limp vellum with four of six ribbon ties intact. (Peterson A10).
