Octavo. 57pp. Printed in black with titling and running headers in orange. Frontispiece and two inserted plates by H. E. Gates - likely aquatints - manipulate shadows in a manner evocative of spirit photography, a connection appropriate both to Poe's haunted tale and the early 20th century popularity of spiritism. Roderick Cave commends the Blue Sky Press and its proprietor, Alfred Langworthy, for the Press's translation of the Arts & Crafts design principles to Chicago taste. Bound in blue-gray paper over boards backed in gilt-titled vellum. Mild exterior soiling, else near fine. (Cave 133)
