Octavo. 97pp. Frontispiece portrait of Eliot. A fine printing of Eliot's epic of the 20th century, still one of the most celebrated poems of modern period, and emblematic of the syncretic poetic form and spiritual beliefs (or disbeliefs) of the interwar period. Included are Eliot's notes, which quantitatively exceed the poem itself. These were only added later, after the poem's first appearance in The Dial, and reluctantly at that. Bound in blue patterned-paper wrappers. Slight bump to lower corner, else fine. Laid in are a facsimile of the typescript for the poem, when it was titled "He Do the Police in Different Voices; a prospectus; and an order sheet.
