Folio. (72)ff., printed rectos only. The full title reads, "An Odd Bestiary. Or, a Compendium of Instructive and Entertaining Descriptions of Animals, Culled from Five Centuries of Travellers' Accounts, Natural Histories, Zoologies &c by Authors Famous and Obscure, Arranged as an Abecedary." The beasts, some mythological and some real, are each depicted twice: in an illustrated initial linocut heading the text, and in a wood engraving on the following page. The opening initials of the text are printed from calligraphy by Betse Curtis and are combined into a full calligraphic alphabet on the colophon. With a lengthy Introduction by the compiler, Laurie Block, and a full bibliography. Printed in red and black, and bound by Gray Parrot in quarter leather and cloth over boards. Fine.
