Octavo. (14) gatherings. An introductory accordion-fold features prefatory remarks on the titular subject by Zapf and by Walter Schmiele, co-editor of the collection alongside Peter Frank. Also featured is a list of the represented poems, types, and printers; among them are Emily Dickinson (in Hunt Roman and Smaragd by Sebastian Carter), Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (in Schneidler Mediaeval by Klaus Hoffmann), Petrarch (in Optima and Walbaum by Jerry Kelly), Boccaccio (in Dante Roman by Martino Mardersteig), Arthur Rimbaud (in Palatino by Walter Hamady), and two appearances by Shakespeare and Michelangelo. The result is a typographic-poetic Wunderkammern. Sheets all fine, loose as issued and held in dropback box.
