Octavo. (22)pp. An engaging rendition of Alonso's poetry, designed and illustrated by Rolando Estévez Jordán with raffia, cut paper, gilt, natural and metallic papers, drawings, hand-coloring, and stampings of leaves. A small collection of Alonso's work, a writer who has long remained at the forefront of Cuban poetry, celebrated, as writ in the biographical note here, for its unique combination of naturalism and humanism. A highly experimental, material study in the art of the book. Bound in wrappers embellished with rope, raffia, cloth "seal," metallic silver stamping, hand-colored illustrations, and a cut-out of a face in profile, covered in lace. Few rubs, else near fine. Housed in bag of heavy, natural stock, decorating in a matching, collaged manner. and with handles of yarn and twine.
