2 folio vols. (95)ff, facsimile; 75, (1)pp, commentary. A striking facsmile of Bodoni's work, produced for Napoleon and Marie Louise in 1811, with a unique, hand-colored copy given to them. An essay by Angelo Ciavarella, Corrado Mingardi, James Mosley, and Bernard Chevallier provides considerable material and historical context. The facsimile itself its a sharp reproduction of Parmesan artist Antonio Pasini's forty copper engravings, plus parerga. An excellent homage to an excellent piece of fine book production. Facsimile bound in full red leather with gilt rolls and rules, with blue spine label and blue silk bookmark. A.e.g. Companion commentary bound in complementary red paper over boards with gilt rule borders to covers and gilt spine titling. A fine set. Housed in slipcase. May require extra postage.
