24mo. Unpaginated. A faithful reprint of a still extremely scarce edition of a thumb Bible printed in London by Jo. Beale for John Hamman in 1614. The Bible was adapted by John Taylor into abridged verse and was reprinted numerous times thereafter. The copy reproduced here was owned by Colonel James Allardyce. The concluding notes state that the Allardyce copy lacks several leaves, which for the facsimile were supplied from the copy at the British Museum. A curious reprint, just as scarce as its subject. The ALS from Allardyce's daughter was sent to accompany the gift of the book to Mr. Thompson Grant. Bound in full plain linen with yapp edges over boards and with spine titling in black. Some toning to edges and spine, internally quite clean. Near fine.
