Three-color broadside. Underneath an image of a rising sung is the charter's text, printed in black and with green and black ornaments of a warrior. The Freedom Charter was codified in 1955 at a convention of the African National Congress, the South African Indian Congress, the South African Coloured People's Organisation, and the South African Congress of Democrats. It marks, then, a moment of intense political action against the apartheid regime. Its 1980 reprinting shows the acceleration of the antagonism toward apartheid, reaching a global scale and garnering considerable political, social, and economic pushback from numerous nations. Stray marks of soiling, else fine. Framed. (23 by 16 in.)
