64pp. With color frontispiece, title page illustration, and vignette on title page verso. Printed in green throughout. Combining elements of Mother Goose and Defoe, this is the story of young Robin, who dreams of distant wanderings. One day, while on an errand from his mother to buy soap, he buys a magic shell from an old destitute sailor and wishes himself away to a deserted island. Faced with the hardships of such a life, he remembers the shell and wishes himself back - or, was it all a dream? A curiously uncommon miniature, bound with red cords in red boards with color pictorial cover label, and housed in a matching paper slipcase. Minor edgewear to book; slipcase spine lacking and slipcase shows some soiling and overall wear to extremities. Very good or better.
