Octavo, landscape-oriented. Andersen's tale of a soldier who, with the help of some clever dogs, comes into fame and fortune here is related in six pop-ups scenes designed by Vojtech Kubasta. Most have movable elements; for example, pulling government officials, including the king, out of their seats shows dogs with bared teeth. A charming adaptation. Some pop-ups more creased than others, sliding element at fourth spread detached but present, cellotape repair to dog at second spread, previous owner's writing to first spread, pictorial boards slightly skewed. A rarer instantiation of Kubasta's work. Good.
