Octavo. (96)pp. A delightful collection of rhymes for children, accompanied throughout by Sturges' fanciful illustrations as chromolithographs, with one unfortunate example of a racist depiction of a Black person. In addition to being an illustrator, Sturges worked in jewelry design and ceramics, and was employed by British company Spode for her talents in the latter. Her son is Hilary Knight, who attributes his famed creation, Eloise, to a painting by his mother. Bound in pictorial boards backed with black cloth. A still-tight binding with minute rubs, housed in original publisher's box somewhat worn at corners. Near fine.
