Octavo. 49, (8)pp + 4 inserted plates. Plates, plus frontispiece, are aquatints, an appropriate medium in response to Lovecraft's aqueous mythology. The original graphite drawing by Morrow-Cribbs is inserted before the frontispiece, and is the preliminary artwork for the aquatint of a clutch of whipoorwills that opens Chapter 4. Included as epilogue is Lovecraft's A History of the Necronomicon (An Outline), along with an ersatz facsimile of Lovecraft's fictional grimoire. Printed in Bembo and Desdemona types on Guarro paper, with aquatints on Arches Text. Originally Morrow-Cribbs planned to execute the illustrations on kitikata, but found the result too transparent; a sample of that printing is laid in. Bound cloth-backed boards painted by the printer, Rollin Milroy, and printed by the artist. Housed in a slipcase. Very fine.
