Octavo. 311pp + 32pp publisher's catalogue. Twain's compilation of nine stories is heralded by the titular bit of speculative fiscal humor, which imagines what a regular schmuck might do with a legitimate but unwieldy check. Bound in blue cloth over boards with titling in gilt, apparently a secondary binding. Quite a bright example, with minimal discoloring to spine and modest rubs to corners, plus few motes of foxing to text block. Very good. (BAL 3436)
