Oblong folio. (27)ff. Seven bleed etchings by Robinson depict with a sense of stunning proximity various species of whales representing the larger array surveyed here: Right, Humpback, Minke, Narwhal, Sperm, Finback, Bowhead, Blue, Sei, Gray, Beluga, and Killer. Two wood engravings, one of a Right Whale skeleton and the other of Humpback's flukes, illustrate the title and colophon leaves. Robinson had received a grant from the Environmental Marine Arts Fund in order to produce the book, and ten copies were donated to the Center for Environmental Education to raise money for the Whale Protection Fund. The same was the case for the rest of the sales, a portion of which was given over to the same cause. Printed by McGrath at the Hampshire Typothetae. Sheets housed loose as issued in full leather folder with low-relief sculpture of a whale's head to upper panel. This Robinson sculpted, then was mounted and molded into the binding shape by Bourbeau. Held in a dropback box designed by Parrot. Fine. Prospectus laid in.
