A pencil inscription at the letterhead gives the date "7/26/1932" for this missive from Hunter to the woodcut artist, J. J. Lankes, whose work is best recognized in the first editions of Robert Frost's poetry published by Henry Holt and Company. Hunter here confirms the receipt of a wood block and sighs over the ripples of the Great Depression, which has resulted in the closure of the Ross County Bank ("quite a calamity"). Fine.
