In his missive to the illustrator J. J. Lankes, Hunter expresses admiration for his correspondent's most recent publication, which based on the date is presumably Roark Bradford's "John Henry," to which Lankes contributed woodcuts. Most interesting, however, is Hunter's retelling of the financial troubles of his mill in Lime Rock, Connecticut. He bewails the machinations of a Mr. Beach, who had it seems positioned himself advantageously as a beneficiary once the mill had been placed into receivership. Hunter goes on to mention the reconciliation of a couple in his and Lankes's social circle, and bemoans the early effects of the Great Depression. Fine. With original envelope.
