The Chilean novelist, writer, and poet Bolaño has long been considered one of the chief Latin American literary minds of the twentieth century. Often his work is cast in the light of his literary peers - Jorge Luis Borges among them - and his politics, especially his rejection of the totalitarian Pinochet government.
