In tune with Hemingway's transatlantic publishing history, the UK edition appeared four days before the US edition. In both cases, as the book was brought to print Hemingway and his editors made various corrections to the errors that had afflicted the story's first appearance in Cosmopolitan, in serialized format. Bound in full green cloth over boards stamped in red. Binding tight and sound, covers modestly soiled overall with light bumps and toning along edges. Flyleaves foxed. A good copy in a good+ dust wrapper, price-clipped. Gift inscription at front flyleaf. (Grissom A22.2a)
