Single sheet game board measuring 41 by 54 cm., with twenty-eight demarcated spaces. Twenty-two of these feature hand-colored engravings showing different parts of a zoo, with each animal in its own habitat. Wolves play in their cage, a beaver gnaws a branch, waterfowl bathe in a fountain, and bears tolerate a zookeeper's prodding. The remaining six spaces provide special directions, quizzing the player on a few of the animals (kangaroos, for example) and explaining the consequences of success or failure. A rare game known only in a single copy at the Huntington Library. The present example differs from the Huntington copy in both size (our copy is a centimeter shorter and three centimeters wider), and also in that ours does not have linen backing. Small, repaired triangular-shaped paper loss between spaces 20 and 21, minor splits to a couple of folds; illustrations and playing service are bright and clean. Overall very good or better in slipcase, which is notably larger than the board but retains the correct label. Lacking 12-page printed instruction booklet.
