24mo. (12)pp. Eight engravings and an array of typographical borders guide young readers through their first lessons in letters, spelling, and eventually reading. Bound in pink wrappers, now uniformly faded, with alternate title on upper cover ("New ABC Book") and publisher's advertising on lower cover. The publisher, Thomas Harman Kreble, operated in Margate around 1850, prior to a move to Fleet Street. Despite the sizable backlist shown in the advertisement here, not many of Kreble's vast output survived, according to current worldwide library holdings. The present title is known in only two institutional copies, according to OCLC. Near fine overall.
