Square quarto. 21-panel accordionfold, with exhibits at recto and verso, for a total of 32 examples of various Froebel techniques. The work here is particularly dazzling. The recto side shows a sequence of paper cuttings of many colors, composed into the abstract geometric patterns that would come to define the work of later designers likewise educated in the Froebel kindergarten gifts. Eventually the cuts become more complex, depicting windmills and animals, including a cat pawing at a fishbowl made of translucent sheets. At the verso are paper foldings likewise of increasing complexity, with one of a sailboat afloat in a sea rendered in colored pencil. A skillful exemplar showing minimal wear, to interior. Bound in cloth-covered album with tied and gilt title. General external rubbing, inconsequential staining at corners, else near fine for the genre.
