Two octavo vols. 269; vii, 234pp + 32pp advertisements dated May 1882. Referred to at the title page as the "second edition," but in fact the second printing of the first. The first issue ran to 500 copies, the second only to 250. Volumes identically bound in full green cloth over boards decorated in black and brown. Bindings cocked forward, modest edgewear and motes of soiling, spines a tad darkened. Still a very good set considering its scarcity and that it was bound with staples rather than thread. Bookplate of Percy Scawen Wyndham, British Conservative politician and, more excitingly, member of the London Spiritualist Alliance and the Society for Psychical Research. (Beinecke 141)
