Small quarto. (viii), 55pp. One of 75 copies, with calligraphic initials hand-drawn by Mark Livingston. The writings of Traherne, an English clergyman, were lost until 1896, and finally published in 1958. The opening sentence, "An empty book is like an infant's soul, in which anything may be written," is printed in red and black, and each of the remaining 99 meditations starts with a five-line calligraphic initial, hand-done in red, blue, or green. A beautifully printed and decorated book, being one of the major publications of the Press. A very fine copy in vellum-backed blue boards.
