Oblong quarto. 13ff. Contains seven double-sided quilt structure designed by van Vliet of woven and interlocking color and patterned papers. Beginning with Aunt Sallie's Lament in 1988, van Vliet combined poetic texts with what Ruth Fine refers to as "quilt books" - illustrations formed of woven papers within non-adhesive bindings. The patterns within the present example were inspired by plainswomen's quilts, incorporating bright colors and elaborate designs. Includes a small bag of paper cuttings from the sheets used in the book. A few stray dark paper fibers visible in upper cover, else a fine copy, housed in a gingham and calico covered clamshell box by Judi Conant. (Fine, Catalogue Raisonné, p.56).
