Octavo. (78)pp. Santana's collection of poems uses motifs drawn from voodoo, instrumentalizing the religion's folk communality to comment on the idiosyncratic intimacies of Cuban culture. Exuberantly illustrated with hand-colored drawings of voodoo figures. Bound in stiff wrappers with collaged covers. Held in container made from a wooden frame, with pocket for the book on one side and on the other an opaque paper door that opens to reveal a three-dimensional iteration of the cover, with looming doll and pop-up title. Mild rubbing to "door" tab, else fine.
