Quarto. 28pp. Printed by Patrick Reagh. Scriptores Astronomici Veteres is a collection of Greek and Roman astrological texts, of which the most important is Maternus's Mathesis, the most extenstive astrological book from antiquity. Here, the original leaf is from Liber Octavus, printed by Aldus Manutius in Venice in 1499, bearing red, and black paragraph marks. The leaf is housed in a folded paper pocket after the title page. The rest of the volume is illustrated with woodcuts throughout the text and contains a bibliography at the end. Bound in gray cloth boards, with printed paper label on spine. Nearly imperceptible fading to extremities, else a fine copy. Bookplate.
