Octavo. 54pp. Pavlychko, a Ukrainian poet and politician, found early work censored by the Soviet Union; when the censorship was eased in the 1980s, he would become a fundamental figure in the establishment of Ukrainian independent nationhood. Added to his poems featured here are drawings of idyllic human figures growing into trees, a motif that certainly nods to Pavlychko's constant literary and ideological eye toward the future.
