Octavo. 54pp. Pavlychko, a Ukrainian poet and politician, found early work censored by the Soviet Union; when the censorship was eased in the 1980s, he would become a fundamental figure in the establishment of Ukrainian independent nationhood. Added to his poems featured here are drawings of idyllic human figures growing into trees, a motif that certainly nods to Pavlychko's constant literary and ideological eye toward the future. Bound in stiff white wrappers with collaged upper cover. Tree bookmark laid in, as issued. Modest soiling and foxing to exterior, but interior entirely clean and bright. Very good.
