Small quarto. xx, 218pp. A fully illustrated catalogue of a retrospective exhibition of Werkman's lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, typewriter compositions, and paintings. His experimental printing adapted modernist formal abstraction to typographical constraints. In 1940, Werkman began a clandestine print shop to publish and disseminate literature that was subversive to the Nazi occupation. He was exectued by the Gestapo in 1945. Bound in pictorial wrappers, modestly rubbed. Very good.
